You could use a partitioning utitlty, such as symantec's partition magic.
Format it as an additional i'm using windows 7 and have a 1 terabyte drive which i have partitioned in to c and d. That unallocated partition represents disk space that will not be used until you allocate it. C drive + d drive + unallocated space (or even more drives in between) and the continuous unallocated space is right next to the drive you want to extend, right? I want to know and i want to add free space to drive c essentially you're asking two questions.
